LeBron James had a spectacular season, even if it wasn’t reflected in Los Angeles Lakers‘ win rate.Captain Zijin is currently the team’s leading scorer NBAbut Shaquille O’Neal Said he shouldn’t be allowed to have it.
Shaq is arguably the most dominant player in league history, winning four NBA championships during his career. He also won two scoring titles in his career and leads the league in field goal percentage in league history.
While he’s been full of praise for LeBron, he thinks it’s time for someone else to take over. Speaking on The Big Podcast with Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams, Shaq offered his thoughts on the current scoring title race.
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid And Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo is also in the running for the scoring title, and Shaq wants either of them to make sure LeBron doesn’t score. When asked who his title choice was, he said: (from 16:45)
“It’s not about who my pick is, but if I were one of those two, I wouldn’t let LeBron get it. It’s just me.”
“There’s jealousy and career jealousy,” he continued. My mentality was, ‘LeBron you’ve been holding on for too long, it’s mine now, and I want it.’ That’s my mentality, especially when Jordan’s going to be out. when. like when [Michael] Jordan left, and I was like, ‘Oh, it’s not like nobody’s taking over, thanks. It’s mine now and I’m taking it over. If I were Joel or Giannis, look, LeBron, you’ve had enough, it’s time to kill the King. “
The game was very close, as Embiid was just 0.2 points behind LeBron’s 30-point average, while Giannis Antetokounmpo was averaging 29.7 points. Each player has less than ten games remaining on the season, which means they all need to take things up a notch to have a chance of winning.
LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers’ seasons may end in disappointment
Heading into the 2021-22 season, the Lakers were fired up. They went through a massive overhaul and were left with just three players last season, bringing in superstars like Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony.
Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out as they expected. While they were one of the favorites at the start of the season, they are currently at risk of missing the playoffs entirely.
The Lakers are ninth in the Western Conference (31-42), followed by the New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs. Any mistakes at this stage could have them knocked out of the play-in point.
Unfortunately, LeBron’s performance didn’t translate into more wins for one of the most storied teams in league history. Still, if they find a way to make the playoffs, there’s still hope they can fix that.
