LeBron James He has been heavily criticized for his involvement in politics, talking about things he believes affect his country. One of the critics is a UFC fighter Colby Covingtonwho recently mentioned James on the “Full Send Podcast.”
Covington beat Jorge Masvidal Earlier this month, the score was decided unanimously. When he was invited to discuss the fight, among other things, he talked about taking a knee for the first interviewees — halfway through his fight.
In his praise of the police and the first interviewees, Covington surreptitiously commented on the four-time NBA champion:
“That’s why I laugh at LeBron James, you know. Like, man, you’re talking nonsense — you’re targeting the cops on their backs. But you’re using cop security every day.”
Covington’s comments to James were in response to James’ previous remarks about police brutality that has occurred multiple times since 2020. In April 2021, James was outspoken about the killing of a 16-year-old — tweeting: “You’re the next #accountability,” calling for the officers involved. He then deleted the tweet, claiming it was being used to create more hate.
Before the recent game, Covington once again called James a spineless coward in a pregame interview:
“I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all the true heroes and celebrities in this country. Not waking up, spineless cowards like LeBron James. I’m talking about our heroes – law enforcement, the military, our first batch Interviewees – God bless you all.”
While Covington may have had issues with the NBA star, James didn’t appear to be intimidated — choosing to ignore the UFC fighter and his nonsense.James has other issues to deal with, such as Los Angeles Lakers Try to stay competitive.
