On Thursday, “The View” guest host, Conservative’s Tara Setmayer, expected House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy “will never be Speaker of the House.”
Setmayer’s resume is quite interesting. She served for years as communications director for Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher before becoming a regular on cable news as a “Never Trump” Republican.
She is now a senior adviser to Never Trump’s “Lincoln Project.”
Given that, her comments on McCarthy may not be what most readers expected.

Setmayer: “He’s a coward! Kevin McCarthy is a coward. He’s afraid of his base”
Left-leaning regular host Joey Behar criticized McCarthy for not better “policing” the GOP, referring to the latest manufacturing media scandal surrounding incoming Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn, who said on the podcast He was invited to raves and saw politicians use hard drugs.
Judging by the amount of media coverage, this is very disturbing to politicians and the media.

Setmayer responded to Behar’s loud question about why McCarthy was attacking Cawthorn, arguing that McCarthy wouldn’t be Speaker, but not because he was also Established or too friendly to Democrats and big government. On the contrary, McCarthy and Trump are too close!
“He’s a coward! Kevin McCarthy is a coward. He’s afraid of his base.”
After back-and-forth over the unsubstantiated sex allegations against Cawthorn, co-host Sunny Hostin said of the House Minority Leader: “He doesn’t seem to care about everything Trump does, he actually goes to Mar-a-Lago kisses his ring. He doesn’t seem to care about Marjorie Taylor Greene, and he doesn’t seem to care much about Lauren Boebert.
“He didn’t seem to care, but all of a sudden he lost trust in this young man,” she added.
“I’ll tell you why. It’s called politics,” Setmayer replied. “Kevin McCarthy was awake every moment of his political life, and he dreamed of being Speaker of the House.”
Setmayer then reiterated her belief that McCarthy would never be Speaker, Channeling her best Nicole Wallace:

“He’s not going to get enough of the Republican base to vote for him, he can’t lose the Putin wing, the Trump wing of the Republican Party, which is Marjorie Taylor Green, Bobbert and Matt Gates. They will A coup against him, and he needs all their votes. That’s why he’s doing it now. He now knows that if they go too far, he’ll lose everyone else,” Setmayer explained.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked by asking, “What the hell is going on in this country? What are we missing? Because I don’t recall an adult ever doing this.”
“What’s wrong?” she finished.
