Iga Swatek extended her winning streak to 27 matches and reached the Italian Open final with a win in her fifth straight title.
The 20-year-old Polish world No. 1 eliminated third-seeded Arina Sabalenka 6-2 6-1 in the semifinals.
Swiatek has not lost since February but will play Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in Sunday’s final – a meeting of two form players in the women’s game.
Jabeur beat Daria Kasatkina for the second straight title.
Her semi-final was even more intense, with the 27-year-old having to save a match point in a 6-4 1-6 7-5 victory over Russia’s Kasakina.
Jabeur becomes the first Arab or African player to win a championship Won the WTA 1000 in Madrid last week.
Swiatek has won her last four matches in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami and Stuttgart.
The last player to win five consecutive matches on the WTA Tour was Serena Williams in 2013.
