Donald Trump has not ruled out including popular Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as his vice president if he runs for the White House in 2024.
Trump was asked about that possibility in an interview with Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty.
“Sir, can you imagine a world where there’s a Trump-DeSantis ticket?” Finnerty asked.
The former president noted that he has a positive relationship with DeSantis and credits himself for the Florida governor’s success and popularity.
“Well, I get along very well with him,” Trump replied. “I take a lot of responsibility for his success because I supported him and he went up like a rocket ship.”
Trump then pointed to several other endorsements he made that led to political success before the conversation turned in the other direction.

In his typical style of thinking about everything, Trump will retain the option to include DeSantis on the ticket if he runs for a significant amount of time in 2024.
In a June 2021 interview, he was asked if he would see DeSantis as his No. 2.
“Of course I will,” Trump replied.

Still, Trump likes to remind people — including DeSantis — who he thinks matters most.
In October, he suggested that if he ran in 2024, he would defeat all candidates in the Republican field, including conservative favorite DeSantis.
“I don’t think I’ll face him,” he said of DeSantis. “I think most people are going to drop out, I think he’s going to drop out.”
Should DeSantis keep running? Well, Trump believes he will suffer the same fate as anyone trying to prevent him from the Republican nomination.
“If I faced him, I would beat him like anyone else,” he boasted.

DeSantis has been making moves in the polls
One has to wonder if Trump would consider making DeSantis the 2024 Republican presidential nominee at this point as a means of unifying the party.
In conservative circles, DeSantis is largely seen as as tough and outspoken as Trump, but in a more palatable way.
What better way to advance the agenda than to have a productive person by your side?
A recent poll showed that while Trump believes his nomination will be a winning decision, DeSantis is fast approaching.
New Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows DeSantis trailing by just 9 points in a hypothetical Republican matchup, a staggering amount considering Trump’s dominance in similar polls a few months ago change.

DeSantis’ appeal comes from the fact that some haters of former President Trump don’t view him with the same degree of vitriol… yet.
HBO host Bill Maher was recently asked on his show, “Do you think Ron DeSantis would be better than Donald Trump?”
“Yes, yes, I would,” he replied.
The reason behind it is put down trump, but Maher pointed out that the hatred for DeSantis will not be as severe. And he has hinted at it before.

Popular podcast host Joe Rogan has said DeSantis “would make a good president.”
“I think, I mean, what he’s done for Florida is admirable,” Rogan added.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he will also lean toward DeSantis in 2024 after voting Democrat his entire life.

Not that celebrities and the typical Democratic voter are the measure, but it does suggest that DeSantis’ style might resonate with independents.
