One of Trump’s motives for potentially announcing a 2024 presidential campaign this summer is the 1/6 committee, according to reports.
Still, Trump’s Republican allies and former White House and campaign aides told CBS News they believe early access to the White House for another bid for Trump is possible. The former president left his Mar-a-Lago, Florida home last month as he seasonally moved to his Bedminster, New Jersey residence.
Others close to Trump say his anger at a televised House committee hearing on Jan. 6 is fueling his re-election campaign, with an announcement likely soon. Some people close to Trump said he felt Republicans had not defended himself well and thought he was the only one best able to defend himself.
Donald Trump can no longer get media attention, 1/6 committee upsets him
The 1/6 committee upsets Trump. He spent a few days on “Truth Social” Growling, ranting, sulking and complaining about hearings.
Trump’s biggest problem is his attempt to use Fox News to counter the hearings, But Fox has been crushed in the ratings Provided by all networks covering the hearing. Trump can only hang out on little-known networks like Newsmax because he refuses to give any interviews that might ask tough questions.
Trump wants him to launch his presidential campaign with all the free media coverage and a big platform that will allow him to object to the hearing.
The Liberty Media ship sailed aboard the Trump a long time ago. A few years ago, networks stopped covering his activities because they were not getting ratings.
If Trump announces his presidential bid, it would be a desperate attempt to avoid potential criminal prosecution.
As calls for his arrest grew, Donald Trump may run for president in an attempt to avoid the consequences of his 1/6 crime.
