The Red Devils secured their second consecutive pre-season win today (15 July) with a 4-1 victory over the A-League side at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Martial, who scored in a 4-0 win over Liverpool earlier this week, scored his team’s second goal against Melbourne.
It was a good strike from the striker who scored with his left foot in the box. Anthony Elanga made a mistake on a cross from the right at first, but the ball kindly fell on Martial, who made no mistake.
United fans took to Twitter to praise the 26-year-old’s second goal under Eric Haag, 10.a user wrote:
“By the way, Martial’s attitude and body language have changed completely. Seems so hungry, sharp, lively, eager to be involved. Whatever Eric Ten Hager does to him, it’s clearly working. Manchester United will benefit a lot from it.”
Another user said that Martial’s outstanding performance in pre-season was bad news for Ronaldo, who is currently absent for personal reasons.he tweet:
“Bad news for Ronaldo.”
Here are some of the best reactions to Martial against Melbourne Victory:
Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial endure contrasting 2021-22 seasons
Back in his first season at Manchester United, Ronaldo scored 24 goals in 38 games in all competitions. The 37-year-old eventually became the Red Devils’ top scorer, although his efforts didn’t help the club win any trophies.
Meanwhile, Martial only spent the first half of last season at Old Trafford. He scored just once in 11 games in all competitions before being loaned to Sevilla. However, the game in Spain did not revive him, as he has only scored one goal and provided one assist in 12 La Liga appearances.
The Frenchman now appears to have found his magic in ten witches. In addition to his two excellent goals, Martial also impressed with his movement and coordination.
Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United remains up in the air as he has yet to report to the club’s pre-season training camp. It remains to be seen whether the Portuguese striker can catch up to the Red Devils’ next game against Crystal Palace on July 19.
As things stand, Martial looks likely to play again against the Eagles and is eager to impress again.
