Monday Night RAW’s Ciampa recently discussed his decision to leave NXT WWEmain lineup.
Ciampa signed with WWE in 2015 and competed in the Lightweight Classic Championship. After that, he was sent to NXT and had great success, first in doubles with Johnny Gargano and later as a singles star. He has won the Tag Team Championship with Gargano and the NXT Championship twice.
However, shortly after WrestleMania 38, champa Moved into the main lineup and made his RAW debut.
in a recent interview inside the rope, he discussed the move and what made him jump to RAW. He said the move was all about timing, with several changes that forced his decision in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Everything is timing [on moving to the main roster]. I think for me, I really wanted to build the NXT brand and turn it into something comparable to Raw and SmackDown. I wanted that bad, and a lot of us wanted that bad, and I think we were heading in that direction, and then the pandemic happened. Many things have changed. Obviously, NXT went back to development for a lot of good reasons, and I understand them,” he said.
Ciampa on how he feels after moving to WWE’s main roster
Since switching to RAW, Blackheart has been The Miz’s lackey and has helped the former WWE Champion multiple times.
In the same interview, the former NXT champion claimed that he feels “great” since moving to the main roster. He also noted that if he hadn’t had neck surgery a few years ago, he might not have been able to work on the WWE schedule.
“I feel great now. I think before the neck surgery, I didn’t think I could handle the schedule and the load. Now that I’ve been away for a few years, I feel like the way I do it, it’s kind of rejuvenating… I feel like I don’t have a schedule anymore.”
Last night, Champa appeared on SummerSlam with the Miz and Maris during the former world champion’s match against Logan Paul. He interfered several times during the game and was later ejected from the sidelines by the referee.then attacked AJ style.
It will be interesting to see if the feud between Blackheart and Phenomenon plays out in the coming weeks.
