arsenal Defender Pablo Mari is closing in on a move to Serie A side Monza daily mail claim. The 28-year-old centre-back is on loan for the second half of the 2021-22 season Udineseis said to be keen to return to Italy.
The Gunners loaned Mali to Udinese on a six-month loan in January. He settled into the Italian top flight with ease and eventually impressed with his new employers in 15 Serie A games with his new employers. Unfortunately for Udinese, Mali’s contract does not include a purchase option.
Udinese are believed to remain keen to sign the Spaniard but find themselves in an uphill battle with Monza, who has emerged as the front-runner for the Mali service.
Monza is close to finalising a loan deal for Mari with Arsenal, according to reports. The deal, which could be completed within the next 48 hours, would have a mandatory buy option if Monza manages to avoid relegation in the 2022-23 season.
Helas Verona, also a Serie A team, has also shown interest in Mali, who himself rejected an offer from Turkish club Fenerbahce. The defender, who has played 22 games for north London so far, is under contract with the Gunners until June 2024.
Arsenal will play their first game of the 2022-23 Premier League season
Arsenal kick off the 2022-23 Premier League season by taking on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Friday 5 August.
The Gunners came into the game in good pre-season form, winning all five of their friendlies. During the pre-season, they scored 20 goals and conceded only 4.
New signing Gabriel Jesus has been at the top of their list in that span, scoring seven goals. Fans of the north London club will be looking to the Brazilian to bring his pre-season form to the Premier League.
Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace played well last season and there may be a thing or two to say about that.
