Ireland and South Africa will lock up the horns in the second and final T20I of the two-match series. South Africa, led by Keshav Maharaj, led 1-0 with 21 points in the opening game while defending 211 points.
It’s yet another example of Ireland doing well this summer but falling short, with India and New Zealand coming very close earlier in the season. Chasing 212 runs, only two batters Lorcan Tucker (78) and George Dockrell (43) surpassed 20 runs. The lack of support from other batsmen meant Ireland ended up with just 190 runs in their 20 overs, which was still a massive effort.
South Africa, on the other hand, continued to excel on the UK Tour, this time with Lisa Hendricks (74) and a quick-fire 56 from Aiden Markram, which gave them a total of 211 runs over 20 rounds.
With the ball, Tabraiz Shamsi continued his excellent work while Keshav Maharaj completed his economic spell, conceding just 29 points (2 wickets) in his four rounds.
The Proteas are keen to end their UK tour with a climax and this is Ireland’s last chance to secure their victory on the board this summer.
