With Jadeja ruled out with a knee injury, Pant is the only left-handed hitter who can bat in the top four if needed. Jadeja’s backup, Axar Patel, is also a southpaw. However, he’s more of a low-level hitter and can’t be expected to hit more than a 6.
Some pundits believe that although Karthik was picked in the Pakistan match before the Pant, things changed after Jadeja was injured. However, Ojha has a different view. He believes that India must stick to the original plan.and sports ethicsHe says:
“I don’t think Jadeja’s absence is a concern. Having said that, it would be weird if you brought Pant into the team before Karthik because of Jadeja’s injury. I think it would be more confusing. And making a change like that, it’s not going to send the right signal to the opponent. I think they should stick with Karthik.”
On Friday, September 2, Judgar was officially ruled out of the 2022 Asian Cup with a right knee injury.
India will kick off their Super 4 campaign in the T20 Championships by taking on arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday 4 September in Dubai.
“Jadeja’s absence is a huge shock for India” – Madan Lal
Former Indian all-rounder Madan Lal sees Jadeja’s injury absence as a major setback for the Blues.
Speaking of Jadeja’s versatility, he commented:
“Jadeja’s absence is a huge blow for India. He’s a versatile player who has hardly let India down in batting or bowling. They can use him in various ways. Even against Pakistan, when He also rescinded the order when India needed a left-hander.”
Unlike Ojha, Lal said Pant must replace Karthik following Jadeja’s injury, keeping the balance of the team in mind. He explained:
“I personally think Rishabh Pant should be on the pitch. Dinesh Karthik has done a good job, no doubt. But the important thing is to look at the balance of the team. It is also important to have the left-arm bowler (Axar).”
Jadeja scored a crucial 35 points in India’s 2022 Asian Cup opening match against Pakistan. He registered numbers against Hong Kong 15-1 in his four rounds and hit Nizakat Khan directly.
