Here’s a traffic and travel update for Cambridgeshire this morning (28 September), as well as roadworks and road closures.
A142 – Erie
According to reports, there were two malfunctioning buses on the road, and traffic has been reported to have been entering Soham.
Station Road and Crawland Road – Sony
The road between the A47 and French Drove will be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm for two days for lane retexturing and patching.
Royston Road – Whittleford
Due to work at Cambs Water, the road is closed in both directions to all motor vehicles until September 30.
X3 8:38 Hinchingbrooke Hospital to Godmanchester Romans Edge will not be running today due to operational issues.
Several routes into town this morning look busy, mainly affecting the A1307, A1134 and A603.
Reports of the RTC on the M11 approaching the J12 Barton also caused S/B delays of about 5 miles.
Ramsay Hollow Drive – Ramsay
From September 29 to October 12, the road will be closed to all motor vehicles in both directions for roadway works.
Ermine Street – Alconbury (at the roundabout on the A1307)
Roads will be closed to all motor vehicles in both directions between 8pm and 6am October 4-6 for roadway works.
Trains between King’s Lynn and London King’s Cross
Speed limits have been imposed on the railway line between King’s Lynn, Cambridge and London’s King’s Cross.
This is due to a flawed track created by the summer heatwave.
The line will be closed at 8:45pm every weekday from Monday to Friday until October 4th inclusive.
The last train will leave King’s Lynn and Ely around 8pm as Network Rail aims to remove the strictest speed limits.
Normal services from King’s Lynn to London will resume on 5 October, subject to final inspections.
Jenny Saunders, customer service director for Great Northern and Thameslink, said: “We will continue to be out of service on some trains between London and Cambridge or Erie during this period, which will make other services even busier.
“Passengers heading to stations along the King’s Lynn line will have to continue changing at Cambridge until direct services can resume.”
Nene Parkway – Peterborough
Northbound and southbound between Junctions 15 and 33 will be closed for one week from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for improvement works.
Cambridge Street – St Neots
Roads will be closed in both directions for work between 9:30am and 3pm daily from September 26th to October 14th.
Johnson Drive/Bridge Drive – Parson Drive
From September 26 to October 7, the road will be closed to all motor vehicles in both directions for lane works.
Norwood Road – March
The road will be closed in both directions from September 27 to 30 due to works at Anglian Water.
Herne Road – Ramsey St Mary’s
From September 26 to October 4, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, the road will be closed to all motor vehicles in both directions for roadway works.
Homerton Road – Buckworth
Due to work by UK Power Networks, the road will be closed to all motor vehicles in both directions until 30 September from 8am to 5pm (weekdays only).
B1187 Murrow Bank – Murrow
Murrow Bank will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic in both directions until October 4 for lane works.
Fen Road – Newton Island
Roads are closed to all motor vehicles until October 5 for roadway works.
The road will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic in both directions between October 1 and 3 due to works at Anglian Water.
Wype Road – Eastrea
Due to Network Rail works, the road at the level crossing will be closed to all vehicles in both directions between 10.40pm on October 1 and 8.50am on October 2.
B1086 St Ives Road – Somersham
Due to work by UK Power Networks, the road will be closed to all motor vehicles in both directions on 3 October between 8:30am and 3:30pm.
Pieces Terrace and Burgess Road – Waterbeach
Both roads will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic in both directions from October 3 to 14.
Barnum Road – Buckworth
The road is closed to all motor vehicles until November 15 due to works at Anglian Water.
