Kanter has been struggling to keep himself healthy lately. Despite concerns over his fitness, Paris Saint-Germain is one of many European heavyweights still interested in securing his services.
The Parisians have added Vitinha and Renato Sanchez to their ranks in the summer transfer window. However, according to the aforementioned sources, Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Luis Campos remains unhappy with the options available in the middle of the park. He is keen to strengthen the team’s midfield next summer by adding the 2018 World Cup winner to the squad.
Kante’s current contract with Chelsea expires in June 2023, meaning the Ligue 1 champions can sign the player for free next summer. The west London unit is believed to want to keep the former Leicester City player at the club beyond June 2023 and has already started talks with him.
Signed from Leicester City for €35.8 million in the summer of 2016, Kante has left an enviable legacy at Chelsea. Widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world, the Frenchman has won a Premier League title and a Champions League trophy with the Blues, among other honours.
Kante has played 262 games for the pensioner so far, scoring 13 goals and providing 15 assists.
Paris Saint-Germain could face stiff competition from Juventus for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante
Like Paris Saint-Germain, Serie A giants Juventus are also reportedly interested in signing Chelsea’s star midfielder Kante. According to Italian outlet CalcioMercatoWeb (via the aforementioned sources), Juventus are keen to strengthen their midfield by pairing Kante with his compatriot Paul Pogba. Pogba is currently recovering from knee surgery and could miss the World Cup in France.
The two Frenchmen have played together for many years in the national team and are completely familiar with each other. If Juve manage to convince Kante to come to Turin, the Bianconeri will surely be a force to be reckoned with in Serie A. It will be interesting to see if the former Caen player takes on a new challenge next summer.
