Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) described Ginni Thomas’ testimony before the 1/6 committee as insane.
“I can’t say,” Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) said when asked if Thomas had provided the panel with any new leads. Committee Chair Rep. Benny Thompson (D-Miss.) earlier said her testimony was “typical” of others’ fringe beliefs about the election. He said Thomas did not claim any privilege in an interview on Friday.
“She absolutely has a First Amendment right to hold any position she wants, which means she can hold any crazy position she wants in the 2020 election,” Ruskin said. He added: “I don’t expect more of her right-wing politics than anyone else today who is steeped in that cult orthodoxy.”
Ginni Thomas apparently didn’t go before the committee, trying to face irrationality with the face of reason. It appeared she told the committee she had been speaking out about the same crazy belief that the election was stolen.
idea Supreme Court wife Justice is arguably cult troubling, but it’s also a clear warning. Cults don’t give up after losing elections, and cults don’t disappear by ignoring them.
Unless they are held accountable, Trump and his cult will make a comeback in 2024 in an attempt to destroy democracy, which is why the work of the 1/6 committee is vital to the future of the country.
