Per Mertesacker spoke highly of Ethan Nwaneri. The 15-year-old recently made history by becoming the youngest player to play in the Premier League.
Speaking Mertesacker said on Arsenal’s YouTube channel that Nwaneri joined the club’s youth academy at a very young age.
“Ethan has always been a part of the Prep Academy; he’s been involved in football since he was five, and then he came to our academy as an under-nine,” Mertesacker said.
The Germans continued to rate the teenager with rave reviews.
“It’s about getting to know the boy, getting to know the family, staying close. This example in particular will test us, but we’re ready and Ethan is on the pitch because he deserves it,” Mertesacker said.
“He went through all our age groups and hit a lot of boxes. He played really well with the U18s and deserves to train with the U21s. He’s a humble guy, he’s very focused and now he’s taken the next step. “

Speaking The Englishman joked to BT Sport about Elneny’s dressing taste but said he was needed in the Arsenal dressing room.
