Chelsea face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday for their first game since the international break. They went on to win 2-1 at Selhurst Park to see Graham Potter win his first game as Blues boss.
Odsonne Edouard gave Patrick Vieira’s side the lead just seven minutes into the game. However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Level up for tourists after 30 minutes.
The match was not without controversy, as Palace felt Thiago Silva should have been sent off minutes before Aubameyang’s goal. Allegedly, the Brazilian deliberately handled the ball in the penalty area, but only received a yellow card.
It looked like Chelsea and Palace would have to share the spoils as the score was 1-1 going into the 90th minute. However, former Eagles loan star Conor Gallagher handed the victory to his side with a stunning effort to put the Blues ahead.
Blues right-back James took to Twitter to express his joy at the post-match victory. He posted a photo of his victory over Palace attacker Zaha along with a padlock emoji.
While the post doesn’t have any wording, the padlock emoji appears to be a sneaky dig at Zaha. The tweet didn’t go unnoticed by the Ivory Coast international and appeared to anger his feathers.
Zaha appeared to hit back at the England international with his own Instagram Story. The Palace star appeared to accuse James of chasing influence on social media. He wrote:
“Clout is a drug, lol. But, you’re all safe.”
However, the former Manchester United attacker has since removed the story from his account.
Chelsea face AC Milan next
