for good, for travel is a new non-profit organization that aims to educate travel consultants on sustainability and encourage them to donate to sustainability organizations in their clients’ travel destinations.
The nonprofit is led by co-founder Tim Morgan 1000 Top Travel Advisors Club.
“Consultants and their clients really need and genuinely desire more education about sustainable travel,” Morgan said in a release. “I hope For Good, For Travel will help turn complex topics into simplicity. term as a starting point for the traveler’s continued growth as a global citizen.”
For Good, For Travel Track the progress of your destination 17 Sustainable Development Goals, produced by the United Nations and its members. The site tracks how well countries are achieving these goals.
Based on this, For Good, For Travel calculates a daily travel donation recommendation and encourages travelers to donate the money to groups working to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Donation advice uses a simple method: subtract a country’s progress from the goal, and the final number is the advice. For example, if a country has achieved 80% of its Sustainable Development Goals, the recommended daily travel donation is $20. The formula was developed based on feedback from consultants, agency and alliance managers, and supplier executives.
Jackie Friedman, president of Nexion Travel Group, said in a press release about the nonprofit that the platform will help travel advisors educate themselves, especially as more travelers want sustainability guidance.
