With Republican voters heading to the polls looking to pick who they think will hold Democrats in charge over the past two years, it may be a little premature to celebrate.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), likely the next Speaker of the House, is doing his best to get the air out of the balloon.
Recently, McCarthy and CNN’s Melanie Zanona asked GOP leaders, “…investigation is a top priority, I know you said you wouldn’t predetermine the outcome, but is impeachment on the table?” on the table?”
Understandably, McCarthy wanted to keep his cards near the vest, but he avoided the question, as he was matrix:
“You know what’s on the table? Accountability. Aren’t we supposed to know where the origins of COVID actually started? They didn’t have a single hearing. Aren’t we supposed to know what happened in Afghanistan over the past 60 days, like this We’re not going to do the same thing again so we don’t have 13 new Goldstar families, which shouldn’t have happened? Shouldn’t we know why the Justice Department decided on its own to go after parents who attended school board meetings?”
We don’t need DC’s corrupt gatekeeper Kevin anymore. This @Republican It’s not that the DNC is using impeachment as a weapon, by following the evidence and holding accountable those who violate the Constitution. @GOPLeder It’s not up to you. It depends on the evidence. @HouseGOP https://t.co/Glgqvmclyt

Follow up and weak responses
McCarthy continued, “Shouldn’t we know where the taxpayer’s money is going? I call it accountability. That’s the responsibility of Congress, no matter which party is in the White House.”

To Zano’s credit, she hasn’t let McCarthy off the hook. She continued: “Some of your members have called for impeachment. What did you say to those members?”
McCarthy dodges again:
“One thing I know about this land of America is the rule of law. We will uphold the rule of law and we will not play politics with it. We will never use impeachment for political purposes. It does not mean that if something On occasion, it’s not used. At any other time, it doesn’t matter if it’s Democrat or Republican. But the idea of what Democrats did, what Adam Schiff did is dangerous.. ….we are better than that. We need to get our country back on track. That’s what the commitment to America does.”
How likely are the “high crimes and misdemeanors” committed by Joe Biden since he became president to justify impeachment proceedings against him?
– Very likely –

Is this an early sign of the GOP in trouble?
Kevin McCarthy isn’t the only Republican looking to have his knees wobbly. all weekend, Republican National Committee Chair Rhona McDaniel Interviewed by CNN’s Dana Bash.
McDaniel mistakenly believed that Joe Biden was the equivalent of Bill Clinton in 1994, and Biden took the election result as a sign that they wanted him to work with the Republican Party.
“If we win back the House and the Senate, it’s the American people who say to Joe Biden, ‘We want you to work on our behalf, we want you to work across the aisle, to address the issues we’re dealing with and.'” she said.
McDaniel couldn’t spend much time talking to Republicans.they want their leaders be opposed to Biden and his agenda. Not “work with him”.
While Kevin McCarthy may not want to act as if he is embracing the idea of impeachment, he could be under a lot of pressure to pull the trigger on impeachment.
Joe Kent is the first American Republican to run for Congress in Washington state. He basically laid out the case for impeaching Biden, which could be attractive to Republicans and their constituents.
“I said, if you’re the commander-in-chief and you invite an invasion of our southern border, if you’re the commander-in-chief and you let the Americans fall into the Taliban’s hands in Afghanistan, what do we do with you?”
This is a fair point.
Newsletter for Republicans. If Americans give you the keys to your house, it’s not because they want you well.
