In response to a similar thread, Vaughan wrote:
“The guy who confessed to me was a hitting coach.”
For those unaware, Vaughan and Jaffer are constantly bantering on Twitter.The England player took Jaffer’s wicket in the match 2002 test in the Lord’s.
Jaffer was previously the batting coach for Punjab in IPL 2019-2021.The veteran also shared funny video About his reunion with PBKS.
Meanwhile, Brad Haddin and Charl Langeveldt were hired as assistant coach and bowling coach, respectively. It is worth mentioning that former SRH coach Trevor Bayless took over the head coaching duties from former India player Anil Kumble earlier this year.
PBKS releases Mayank Agarwal, reserves 16 players for IPL 2023
The Punjab Kings have released captain Mayank Agarwal, who was retained last season for Rs 120 crore ahead of IPL 2023. He’s had a rough year, scoring just 196 runs in 12 innings for a 16.33 average on a 122.50 hit rate. However, the Kings have retained 16 players for the upcoming IPL season.
Punjab also retain many core stars such as Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow (England), Sri Lanka’s Bhanuka Rajapaksa, England’s power batsman Liam Livingstone, and young Indian bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Rahul Chahar.
They still have a strong batting lineup, with Bairstow and Dhawan likely to be starters. Punjab’s bowling also looks good with the likes of Chahar, Arshdeep and Kagiso Rabada. The franchise will try to lift the IPL trophy, which has eluded them for the past 15 years.
PBKS, which has yet to win the IPL, will look to fix the missing pieces in a mini-auction. The Punjab-based franchise, which has nine vacancies, saved just over Rs 3.2 crore ahead of next month’s mini-auction.
