After England’s match against Iran earlier this week, I found myself caught in the middle of the crowds that flocked to the Sports City subway station.
Trapped by an obstacle, we stopped, started, and stopped again as the usher yelled into a megaphone and guided us with foam fingers.
For the most part, things are in order, although some daring individuals choose to jump over obstacles to succeed.
For the rest of us who are less agile but more law-abiding, it’s a slow 45-minute trek.
While others were flipping through their phones, I was talking to British fan Steven Carroll.
“After the game in Russia, they had buses outside, and then you went back to Moscow,” he recalls.
But Mr. Carol’s spirit is quite good, patiently waiting in line.
“We could have gotten lost in the queue 6-2! ” He says.
