The former All-Star and NBA champion has struggled with adversity over the past few seasons, with injuries all but keeping him out of the game. But it looks like things are finally taking a step in the right direction.
Los Angeles is 4-1 in its last five games, and Anthony Davis’ numbers are insane. In his last game against the San Antonio Spurs, Davis had 25 points and 15 rebounds in just 35 minutes.
With the Lakers back-to-back, their decision to leave him out Saturday night made sense.
The Lakers used Davis smartly. They knew about his injury history and realized he needed to play for them to be successful.
Anthony Davis averaged 26.3 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. Efficiency was there, too, shooting 57 percent from the field.
With the type of play Davis gave the Lakers, Los Angeles probably wouldn’t trade him right now. Rumor has it they could sell him if the right package comes along.
Los Angeles faces the San Antonio Spurs, currently 6-14. The Lakers aren’t much better, currently 6-11, but considering four of their six wins have come in the past five games, things look promising.
