Leading progressive digital firm Authentic has dropped client Kyrsten Sinema after the Arizona senator announced she was leaving the Democratic Party, according to a person close to the company.
Authentic has represented Sinema for many years. But earlier this year, the company saw internal resistance to the work it did for senators after senators voted against several Biden administration initiatives and declined to support changes to filibuster rules to advance legislation on voting rights.
The digital company abandoning Sinema is an example of the problems she may face. Sinema was not eliminated because she is no longer a Democrat. Many liberal and progressive companies work for Bernie Sanders, who is also an independent.
Sinema has become that independent, and that’s the problem. Sinema is a pro-corporate obstructionist, more interested in her brand and protecting her seat than any ideological agenda.
Progressives have rallied around Sinema and supported her Senate campaign. They are a big reason why she wins.
no Dsupport for democracy and progress, Sinema is not just a nonpartisan senator. She’s a senator who may not have the grassroots infrastructure needed to win.
Kyrsten Sinema has chosen this path, which could see her leave the Senate directly.
