India captain Rohit Sharma congratulated Ishan Kishan for becoming the fourth Indian to score an ODI double century. Kishan follows in the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit himself.
The young southpaw scored 210 runs in just 131 shots against Bangladesh on Saturday, December 10. In the process, he also broke the record for fastest 200 runs in ODI history.
Rohit himself scored three double centuries in ODIs, including the all-time high (264). He knows exactly what it’s like to reach such a huge milestone.
The Indian skipper recently posted a photo of Kishan celebrating his double centenary with a witty caption:
“Yeh club ka mazza alag hai (It’s a different joy to be part of this club), @ishankishan23”
Young people are obliged and answer with equally witty comments. He wrote:
“Maza hi maza hai 🤝 (Unlimited fun)”
Rohit Sharma’s injury gives Ishan Kishan chance to open
isan ki shan The Indian ODI team has been on the fringes for some time now.
He made his debut against Sri Lanka in an ODI last year and has been with the second tier since. The 24-year-old scored an impressive half-century on tour in Zimbabwe earlier this year and also scored an impressive 93 at home against South Africa.
Roshi SharmaA thumb injury ruled him out for his third ODI against Bangladesh, giving Ishan Kishan a chance to showcase his skills.
The southpaw probably knew he wouldn’t have many chances ahead of the ODI World Cup, so he took that chance with a massive double hundred. This can keep cats as far apart as other openers like Shubman Gill and pigeons Shiha Dawan very concerned.
I can’t put into words how I feel right now, but I will try. I am overwhelmed with love, messages and wishes. It was an inning I will always remember, a day I will never forget, a moment I will always remember. Thank you for everything 🇮🇳 https://t.co/xlNzuWxA4w
Kishan made it nearly impossible for selectors and front office to ignore his performance. It will be interesting to see how this knock changes the landscape for India’s top order decision for next year’s ODI World Cup.
