The Colombo Stars asked the Jaffna Kings to bat first. Contributions from Avishka Fernando (32), Sadeera Samarawickrama (32) and Shoaib Malik (35*) helped the Kings rank 178th on the board. The Stars took five wickets in total, with Benny Howell taking two.
Chase 179, Captain Angelo Matthews (38 balls 73*) and Benny Howell (20 balls 43) worked hard to get down the order, but it wasn’t enough as they failed to cross the line. At the last moment of the game, the Stars lost the game by six points. James Fuller and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth took two wickets each to defend their title.
