Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has reportedly taken 18 taxpayer-funded private jet flights since taking office, more than double the number taken by his predecessor Elaine Chao.
That’s right, the guy who’s trying to shame you into buying a $50,000 electric car and biking to work to improve his environmental credentials because gas prices are so high has been pumping carbon into the atmosphere with his private jet flights.
Data comes from a survey by the American Public Trust (APT).
Fox Digital News was the first to report About the details, noting that “Buttigieg travels domestically and internationally using a fleet of private jets administered by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).”
APT executive director Caitlin Sutherland blamed the transport minister in a statement about taxpayer-funded flights.
“For a man who is holier than you when it comes to reducing emissions, Buttigieg certainly doesn’t seem to mind the pollution his literal jet set-up creates,” Sutherland added. “This is hypocrisy at its finest and these troubling expenditures by taxpayers must be scrutinized immediately.”
