Leading 1-0 in the two-game series, Indian team will bear Bangladesh In the second Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The contest will start on Thursday, December 22nd.
India have been hit by injuries lately. The BCCI confirmed that skipper Rohit Sharma and pacer Navdeep Saini will not be able to take part in the second Test, while KL Rahul was hit in the hand on the tennis court and may not recover in time. Visitors are unlikely to make many unforced changes.
This is India’s predicted XI in the second Test against Bangladesh.
Openers: KL Rahul (c), Shubman Gill
India batting coach Vikram Rathour said Rahul’s injury was not serious, further confirming that he will play in Mirpur. Had he not recovered, Abhimanyu Easwaran might have made his international debut.
Shubman Gill, who impressed in Chattogram’s second inning, will look to take another chance.
Intermediate: Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (week)
Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s vice-captain for the series and potential captain for the second Test match, was one of the best performers in the first match. He broke his drought with a 90 in the first inning and a 100 in the second post.
Virat Kohli had to spend some time in the middle in the second innings. He’ll want to take a page out of Pujara’s book and end up with another test percentile.
Shreyas Iyer happened to make a valuable contribution in the Chattogram, and Rishabh Pant also played a role. The duo will want to add some intent to the mid-order.
All-rounders: Ravi Chandran Ashwin, Aksar Patel
Surprisingly, Ravi Chandran Ashwin didn’t get much involved with the ball in the first Test as he looked a bit out of rhythm and chipped just one wicket in two innings. The veteran spinner will want to be involved in Millpool’s activities.
Axar Patel, on the other hand, came into his own with excellent control in the second innings. The left-arm spinner will be one of the few problems to deal with in the second test.
Saurabh Kumar may have to wait a while longer for his debut.
Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj
India are unlikely to make any changes in the bowling division. Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj played well in the first Test and there was no reason for the visitors to shuffle and bring in Shardul Thakur or Jaydev Unadkat as neither pacers had much to offer.
Kuldeep Yadav, who was named man of the match in the Chattogram, will be India’s biggest weapon against the Bangladesh batsmen.
