Congressional approval ratings are absolutely horrendous, and so is the media. This story perfectly explains why those two things are true.
The massive omnibus bill currently passing Congress includes funding for a media monument in Washington, D.C.
Why? Who among the American people asks for such a thing? Who is this helpful for?
Breitbart News Report:
Omnibus bill: Taxpayers erect monument to D.C. journalists, subsidize media outlets over $1 billion
If the Omnibus Act passes into law in the next few days, taxpayers will fund a statue of journalism in Washington, D.C. and provide media subsidies worth more than $1 billion.
Under section 708 of the act, institutional media would be given a “remembrance” site in Washington, D.C., to honor “reporters”:
Location of Memorial Commemorating America’s Commitment to a Freedom of the Press, Commemorating the Journalists Who Lost Their Lives to the Cause in District I, as shown on the map entitled ‘Remembrance Districts in Washington, D.C. and Surrounding Areas’, No. 869/86501 B, dated June 24, 2003, was approved.
According to the bill, the statues would be located in “Area I,” which appears to include the Washington, D.C., mall area, as well as the White House, Tidal Basin, Theodore Roosevelt Island and Virginia’s Potomac coastline.
The bill does not disclose a budget or funding allocation.
The bill also includes funding for the media:
