monkeypox One of the biggest public health achievements of 2022 has been a sharp drop in cases in the West thanks to the rapid rollout of vaccines for high-risk groups.
The virus, which was recently renamed mpox by the World Health Organization (WHO), was detected outside endemic countries in West and Central Africa in early May.
