Former President Donald Trump shared a column on his Truth social media platform suggesting that the Republican Party is “on the verge of splitting up” and discussing the possibility of him running as a third-party candidate in 2024.
The article believes that the Republican Party “has no intention of making us choose Trump again” because he refuses to obey.
“What do we do when most Republicans want Trump, but the GOP says we can’t have him?” author asks.
Trump shared the post with his followers on Wednesday but uncharacteristically refrained from commenting, leaving many to speculate whether he was hinting at a split in the Republican Party.
Finally, columnist Dan Gelernter says a third-party campaign for Trump won’t end up winning.
“Do I think Trump can win as a third-party candidate? No, would I vote for him as a third-party candidate? Yes,” Gallente wrote. “Because I have no interest in supporting this corrupt gravy train anymore.”
How many Republican voters feel the same way, especially after they are once again abandoned and insulted by a Republican Senate that just handed over the entire kingdom to the Democrats?

Trump has threatened to run for a third party in the past and may have played around with the situation as a means to gain leverage within the Republican Party.
He briefly explored running for the Reform Party nomination in 2000, based on a book called Betrayal: The Trump Show’s Last Scene, threaten to leave the republican party Due to the lack of support towards the end of his presidency.
RNC Chairman Rona McDaniel allegedly responded, “You can’t do that — if you do, we’ll always fail.”
“Exactly — without me you lose forever. I don’t care,” Trump reportedly replied at the time. “This is what Republicans deserve for not supporting me.”
Trump is likely to be the Republican nominee. If for some reason he’s not the Republican nominee, I doubt he’ll be running a third party, since he’ll have Biden running for re-election in 2024. https://t.co/RaeGIA4NOq

The former president has the support of millions of American voters, and if someone like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wins the Republican nomination, he will almost certainly win some states in the three-way race.
By splitting Republican voters, this would surely lead to a Biden victory in 2024. or will it

How Trump ‘won’
political insider reporting earlier this month In a group called “The Third Way” published a report Analysis of “The Dangerous Fantasy of the President’s Third Party in 2024.”
Much of their analysis discusses a progressive candidate entering the race against another term from the elder Joe Biden.
But, as noted above, if Trump is a third party and he starts to actually get electoral votes in the deep red states, chaos will begin.
“If a third-party candidate breaks historical precedent and manages to win enough electoral votes to prevent any candidate from getting 270 votes, the outcome will be decided in the House, which is controlled by Republicans, and Donald Trump will win in the House,” Third Way claims.
The latter part is definitely not set in stone, as anyone who has followed the Republican Party for the past 6 years can easily tell.
.@aliza_astrow Looking back at history + data shows that WH’s 3rd party candidates did not win. But they could be spoilers.

The argument has another major flaw — the House is likely to be a microcosm of the national vote, with Democrats sure to vote for Biden and everyone else split evenly between DeSantis and Trump.
With the Republicans’ slim majority in the House of Representatives, the vote is likely to give the incumbent a victory.
leftist political pundits juan williams quote The Third Way reports and suggests that Trump could put out “the most significant third-party candidate in American history.”
“Anyone supporting a third-party candidate should be clear: they are not creating a new political faction because their candidate will not win,” Third Way argued.
“Instead, they’re creating a disruptor that helped get Donald Trump elected.”
