Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri has partially blamed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for the outcome of the 2022 midterm elections.
Hawley is certainly not the first to do so. Many accused McConnell of underfunding certain campaigns and questioned the quality of some candidates.
Conservative voters are happy that Republicans have retaken the House of Representatives, but in a year like this, many see Republicans underperforming in the Senate race.

Senator Hawley blames McConnell for poor midterm results
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) blamed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for the GOP’s poor record during the midterm elections.
In an interview at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference, Hawley explained how several Republicans, including McConnell, have contributed to the Biden administration’s progressive agenda.
“Listen, if you look at the last two years of the Senate: bowing to Big Pharma on insulin. bowing to Chuck Schumer on gun control. bowing to the radical left on the climate agenda. That’s called infrastructure bill,” Hawley said.
Eighteen Senate Republicans voted to pass a $1.7 trillion omnibus bill that includes billions earmarked for Democrats’ wake-up agendas, such as LGBTQ museums and anti-racist institutions.
“It’s a bad record. And then they wonder, why didn’t we do better in the midterms? Geez, why, I don’t know,” Hawley asked.
The Missouri senator is one of about 10 Senate Republicans who oppose McConnell’s continued Senate minority leadership.
Many conservatives are ready for a leadership change.
