Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães has paid tribute to Brazilian legend Pele, who recently died aged 82.
Guimarães, 25, paid tribute to one of his country’s most iconic footballers ahead of his side’s Premier League game against Leeds United on Saturday (Dec. 31). He donned the former Santos man’s shirt and joined his team-mates in applauding him for a minute before kick-off at St James’ Park.
Following Newcastle’s 0-0 draw with Leeds, Guimaraes tweeted:
“As long as football exists, you will exist, Pele. You were and will always be the best. You are eternal! Thank you very much.”
