The Holy Land is the most sensitive site in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is located in East Jerusalem, which was captured by Israel from Jordan in the 1967 Middle East War. Under a delicate set of arrangements, Jordan was allowed to remain custodian of the site while Israel took over control of security and access.
