Former President Donald Trump, likely in response to Rep. Matt Gates’ nomination, posted a fun Photoshopped image of what he would look like if he were named Speaker of the House.
Pictured is President Joe Biden delivering his State of the Union address last year, flanked by Vice President Kamala Harris Dress like she’s ready for the night shift at UPS Wearing a brown suit, Trump sat next to her.
Except for Trump’s gestures and grimaces that viewers won’t soon forget.
In the image, the 2024 Republican candidate can be seen with his hands folded on his stomach and his tongue wagging.
The pose appears to be from a photo taken by Getty Images at previous gatherings.
Just: Trump just shared this on Truth Social.
Maybe he’s endorsing the speaker? 😂 pic.twitter.com/Hxdn4XfjiG

How can you not like this guy’s sense of humor? This picture is simply too funny. But it could also just be a humorous response to Gates nominating him for speaker.
Gates made the announcement formally in the seventh of 11 speaker votes, as he and 20 conservative opponents refused to give Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) enough votes to fill the role.
Trump’s name has the House buzzing.
I voted for Speaker of the House today?

The Florida representative is following through on a promise he made more than a year ago.
When asked by a reporter if he would be willing to have Trump as speaker, Gates replied, “I would.” Pressed further if he had discussed it with him, he added, “I have.”
He even sent out fundraising appeals over the summer, telling donors, “How good it will feel when … we name the next Speaker of the House, Donald J. Trump.”

Trump endorses McCarthy
While such a move is possible, former President Trump seems unlikely to succeed Nancy Pelosi anytime soon.
The position has never been held by anyone outside the House, but the Constitution does not explicitly state that the speaker must be a member of the House. Anyone elected by the House of Representatives can serve as speaker.
In other words, Trump only got one vote.
Additionally, the 2024 presidential candidate loudly endorsed McCarthy’s bid for speaker.
“It’s time for all of our great Republican House members to vote for Kevin, get the deal done, win, [and] Watching Nancy Pelosi fly back to a very broken California,” he wrote on Truth Social.
Posting this morning, Trump predicted good things for the GOP in the coming year.
“Good things are coming soon for the GOP, and 2024 will be a ‘monster,'” he wrote.
As for Gates, he tweeted his impression of Trump holding the gavel as Speaker of the House.

Fox News reported Friday that a deal could be in the works to keep McCarthy as speaker that would “make big concessions to the conservative House Freedom Caucus.”
Fox reveals concessions made by McCarthy to conservatives “Pretty much everything they’ve been asking for.”
The deal, which could take days to complete, will be finalized over the weekend and a new round of voting will begin next week.
Gates is not expected to vote for McCarthy despite any framework or agreement.
