Former NFL running back Peyton Hillis needs the prayers of the NFL world. The former New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back saved a drowning family member, but may have paid a heavy price in the process.

NFL insider Dov Kleiman tweeted an update on the status of the running back:
“UPDATE: Former NFL RB Peyton Hillis remains in ICU after saving his kid from drowning on Jan. 5. Hillis is fighting. Lungs and kidneys were the main problems initially. His kidneys are now a ‘big problem’ “, per [Channel 3]. Hillis is a hero, pray for him. “
After the accident, Hillis was airlifted to the hospital. Initially, Hillis’ lungs and kidneys were at risk. Now, the kidneys have gotten so bad that they’re more of a concern than his lungs.
“I just wanted to let everyone on Razorback Nation know that Peyton is doing better. He’s still in ICU, he’s got some problems with his kidneys and lungs, but the doctors say he’s getting better. I just want to stop any possible Rumors started. I believe he wanted everyone to know that he appreciates everyone who prayed for him!!”
That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, or at least Hillis is now trending down. The entire NFL world rallied around Damar Hamlin when he was in critical condition, and now it looks like Hillis needs the same treatment.
