GARDAI has issued an emergency travel warning as heavy snow will blanket Ireland.
On Twitter, gardai advised road users to plan an alternate route if planning to travel to Sally Gap Wicklow.
in a tweet “Due to adverse weather conditions, An Garda Siochana advises road users to consider alternative routes/plans today if intending to travel to Sally Gap,” said a Gardai release today.
Next to it is a photo of a icy January showing an intersection completely covered in snow.
Sally Canyon is famous for its views of the surrounding blanket bogs and the Wicklow Mountains.
This is because Ireland is in the Status Yellow Alert For icing conditions, with meet the irish “Hazardous travel conditions” warning as well as heavy snowfall.


The warning said: “Freezing is possible Sunday night and Monday morning.
“Hazardous travel conditions are expected, especially on untreated roads and sidewalks. Some freezing fog is also possible.”
The alert starts at 6pm today and runs until 12pm on Monday.

meet the irish “It turned cold across the country from Sunday night into Thursday morning with severe frost and icing on roads and sidewalks as the arctic airstream built up,” he said.
“Some showers, hail, sleet and snow are expected, with a possibility of freezing fog. Further updates to advisories and warnings are expected in the coming days.”
Tonight’s forecast reads: “Cold tonight with widespread frost and widespread ice. Temperatures will drop to between -3C and 1C in the morning, the lowest for Ulster.
“Scattered winter showers will continue for a while, most often in Atlantic counties, usually clearing late into the night.
“Some freezing fog is also possible with light northwesterly or variable winds.”
The Met Eireann said Monday night would bring widespread frost, with temperatures dropping to between 0 and -4C or -5C. The weather will be sunny with scattered winter showers.
“Outbursts of sleet and snow are also likely to affect parts of the west and south. There may be some freezing fog forming over land with little wind.
Tuesday will be cold with frost or ice. There will be sleet in some areas. There are also bright or sunny spells.
“Temperatures of just 1C to 4C in the afternoon with light to moderate variable or northerly breezes and a relatively fresh Atlantic coast. Nighttime lows of -2C to -6C with further sleet and snow showers.
“A sharp to severe frost with ice and snow in parts. There is also some freezing fog.
Wednesday will be fine with scattered winter showers mainly in the west and north.
