KHM Travel Group remains committed to building a culture that respects and embraces Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I). The company recently appointed a group of travel agency members with personal and professional experience in all aspects of DE&I to its new advisory board. The committee will act as an advisor to KHM Travel Group’s corporate team as they advance a more thoroughly integrated DE&I strategy through 2023 and beyond.
In addition to the establishment of this new committee, KHM Travel Group has also established the following new initiatives:
More host organizations and consortiums
Monthly DE&I Newsletter – Originally developed as a way for the committee to communicate updates, this monthly newsletter is now sent to all KHM Travel Group agents. This enables the newsletter to contain more features, rich content and reach a wider audience.
“Extended Lens” – The weekly magazine of the KHM Travel Group, Live talk show KHM Today One segment is now broadcast monthly dedicated to DE&I related topics. So far, some have covered LGBTQ+ travel, accessible travel, and even more specific topics like sobriety and recovery while traveling.
DE&I minutes – As part of KHM Travel Group’s ongoing internal DE&I training, the “DE&I Minute” has been introduced into monthly company meetings. During this part of the meeting, team members share inclusive language, resources and information on current DE&I topics to all company team members.
DE&I Resource Guide – In early 2023, KHM Travel Group will launch a DE&I resource guide for agents to access within MyTravelAgentPortal. This guide will include resources such as professional organizations, certifications, vendor marketing resources, and internal marketing resources, as well as helpful links and advice for clients’ unique needs.
As a host, KHM Travel Group knows that thoughtful DE&I can make a big difference for a small business, especially when it comes to customer relationships. Marketing to a diverse client base can create deeper connections with existing clients and attract new business, taking independent agency to the next level.
