ONE Flyweight Submission Fighting Champion Mikey Musumeci is excited about the ONE Openweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix scheduled for this year and can’t wait to see it.
This ambitious competition will become one of the signature events of ONE Championship in 2023. The announcement was made during the ONE Fight Night 6 press conference at Prime Video in Bangkok last week.
In the openweight competition, 16 of the world’s best strikers, regardless of their weight class, will compete for the top prize of $1 million. It’s only open to one boxer, but the promotion says it’s constantly signing athletes, some of whom have yet to be announced.

The Openweight Championship will likely feature top ONE forwards such as Chingiz Allazov, Superbon Singha Mawynn, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao and Regian Eersel. It also attracted the interest of kickboxer and mixed martial artist Alistair Overeem.
mickey musumeki Was part of ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13th. He successfully defended his submission world title against Mongolian challenger Gantumur Bayanduuren by unanimous decision.
Before joining ONE, he was an honored Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athlete, including winning five IBJF World Championships representing the United States.

Since his debut in ONE in April last year, he has achieved a perfect record of 3 wins and 0 losses. In September, he defeated Brazilian Cleber Sousa by unanimous decision in ONE on Prime Video 2 to claim the inaugural ONE Flyweight Submission World Championship title.
