Trivandrum: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched a campaign to promote its travel card. The event, organized by the commercial arm of KSRTC at the civilian station in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday, saw the distribution of around 200 travel cards.

KSRTC transport card can be obtained by providing name and mobile number and Rs 100. Card holders do not need to buy a ticket when riding KSRTC buses, but can use the card instead. KSRTC authorities have launched a campaign to consider the introduction of feeder buses and services that do not issue regular tickets but only accept travel cards.

The prepaid travel card can be recharged any number of times, and passengers can take KSRTC buses to any destination. Top-ups start from Rs 50 and go up to a maximum of Rs 2,000 at a time.
Currently, transit cards can be used on feeder buses, loop services and city shuttles. “In the next two months, all KSRTC services are expected to accept the card,” an official of the public operator said.
Passengers who top up between Rs 250 and Rs 2,000 will also get 10% extra value for free.
