A Qantas flight bound for Sydney has been forced to turn back to Melbourne due to a “minor engine problem”.
It is the third engine-related problem for Qantas in as many days.
On Wednesday, the pilot of a flight from New Zealand to Sydney issued a distress call after losing an engine.
Then, on Thursday, the Fiji-bound flight was forced to return to Sydney as a “precautionary measure”.
The pilot of Melbourne-Sydney flight QF430 “received an indication of a minor engine problem” on Friday morning.
“They returned to Melbourne as a precautionary measure,” a Qantas spokesman said.
“The plane landed normally – it was not an emergency landing or a priority landing.
“Both engines remained running throughout the flight.”
Customers will be booking other flights in the next few hours.
