Brett Maher’s plight since the wild-card round has become a worry for every Dallas Cowboys fan, including current Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
Maher missed another plus point in the San Francisco 49ers’ divisional game against the Dallas Cowboys, and Abbott expressed his concerns about the Dallas kicker.
Abbott has been paralyzed from the waist down since he was 26. He has been using a wheelchair since an oak tree fell on top of him while he was jogging after a storm. The incident happened in 1984.
It’s clear that the Cowboys have also lost faith in their kicker. Faced with a 4th and 4 from the opponent’s 35-yard line, Mike McCarthy called for a 4th attempt instead of sending Mach and a kicker to the field. Dallas trailed in the fourth, but ended the offense with an interception two plays later.
The 49ers made three goals in the first half, which shows the importance of kickers to a team. Maher did hit a 25-yard field goal to tie the game in a 9-6 loss for the Cowboys.
