Last week, the Memphis Police Department announced it had completed its investigation into Mr. Nichols’ death and said it had fired five officers: Tadarius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Amy Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr. and Justin Smith. Like Mr. Nichols, all officers are black.
