In another flip, Twitter said it would now remember which feeds users had chosen across the web — either algorithmically “for you” or chronologically “followed.” The change will come as a relief to many who have complained that the social network defaults to showing them an algorithmic timeline every time they visit the service.
The move is the latest in a series of changes Twitter has made to its implementation of dual timelines in recent days.it first makes Algorithm timeline default on iOS earlier this month. On the web, things are a bit confusing.
- January 13: Twitter rolled out the Network Dual Timeline update, but back then the social network used to remember your choices.
- January 20: The company made “For You” the default on the web when users first opened Twitter in a tab or refreshed the page.
- January 24: Now Twitter will remember your choice again. World Peace.
Twitter also added that similar updates will be rolled out to the Twitter iOS and Android apps. Soon, the default algorithmic timeline for mobile apps will also cease to exist.
