Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) warned Speaker McCarthy that he won’t stop Democrats from standing up for democracy by kicking them out of committees.

Rep. Schiff said:
All I can say is Mr. McCarthy’s rationalizations, the reasons keep changing. The main sin seems to be that I spearheaded the impeachment of his master at Mar-a-Lago for denying hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine, a country at war with Russia to blackmail it into helping Donald Trump run for re-election. We proved these facts and received a bipartisan vote to remove a president for the first time in Senate history. Kevin McCarthy called it a hoax. Well, it’s not a scam.
But he will do what the former president says. This is what the former president wanted. I can assure you that if a former president or Kevin McCarthy thinks this will stop any of us from fighting to protect our democracy, they will find out that the opposite is true. This only strengthens our commitment to do so.
With respect to Mr. Swalwell, I also want to mention that, as he said, I sat in on that briefing. Mr. Swalwell has served with honor on our committees. Never been accused of any wrongdoing. This is obviously unfair smearing by Mr. McCarthy. But that’s what he traded. This is what we see.

Republicans could lose the House of Representatives next year. Rep. Schiff may run for the Senate in 2024, but McCarthy’s political revenge and Trump’s appeasement policies may have a short shelf life.
Democrats will now work harder to protect the country from being intimidated by Kevin McCarthy’s anti-democratic tactics.
